Tried it. The resolution doesn't apply. Changed the resolution in the system. Launched the game. Found a sword. Got a bug on the first enemy: I can't hit them, can't do anything, but they keep hitting me without killing me—I have infinite HP. In the end, I gave up. The trailer was really inspiring! But it's unplayable for now :(
Played for less than 20 minutes and found 3 bugs that wouldn't let me progress lmao. I love this, and I'm not being sarcastic. I'll list them in case you haven't found them;
1. If you press too many buttons in a short span of time, the game tries to buffer them and, aparently, since it can't perfom the buffered action, it just stores it and doesn't take any other. Which makes it so you can't go past a tutorial pop-up.
2. Same as before, but this time it buffered 2 W inputs, which didn't let me get into the shop room cuz it would just open the store, and if I pressed Esc, it sent me to the former room, therefore not letting me get the sword, and thus making me restart.
3. If you sheathe the sword before the first combat, the game stops as if the tutorial had popped up, but it just won't, and the guy at the door will just swing infinitely at you, without you taking damage, but unable to press anything other than Esc to close the game.
Overall it looks really good. I love the concept, and I'll play more. But yeah, shit happens lmao
Well my experience was problematic to say the least. I had to walk through walls most of the time. It seemed the graphic loaded incorrectly or sth like that. I finally got stuck in a infinite forward path to nowhere. The mechanics are cool but needs debugging and a save/load is necessary. The map was not intuitive at all, but it seems the game was working terribly bad on my end. So maybe the map works fine. I think you have sth good here. Still too raw for my taste. Keep working. Cheers.
Hi! You are not alone with the bugs. It seems it is too easy to end up visually in a different room than the game thinks you should be in. Might have something to do with tapping forward twice too fast. The guy who wants 10000 so you can leave hard locked the game in this state. The actual game looks awesome tho! It took a while to adjust to the controls but they are ok after that. Just get the glitches fixed and this could be a really good game!
Hello, and thanks for playing! This issue is something we are aware of, and it is being worked on currently. We hope to see you return in the future when this is resolved!
Whoa. Just Randomly saw the trailer on YouTube and it looked so much fun. I'm still a bit new to pc gaming and thought the download would be hard but it was super easy. Just Download the files and just extract and your all done. But I got to say I wanted to try it out to see how it Was. it is a super fun and simple Dungeon Crawler. Just started playing it will Likely play it all day after I get some sleep. Its the kind of game you can pretty much only play once and know all the secrets and finish it. But definitely worth playing. Wish the game was Rogue-Like. The game doesn't have a lot of re-playability that I would love to have in this game. But other then that this is some great work. Would love to see more of this game Please.
I would love to play this game, but when I start it the initial menu "Start/Credit/Edit" the menu system just scrolls automatically and I can not start it properly. I have tried switching keyboards and redownloading the game but the result is always the same. If there is a solution that would be great.
Congratulations on creating such a cool experience. I really enjoyed the combat system! Just a heads up, I'm still on my first run but I'm stuck at the moment. It's the second time I see the jester dude, and I can't move or do anything. All the sound effects still play.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed! Yeah there is some flaws in the jester's logic so that is something that will be reworked so you won't get stuck in these situations lol
this is a bit of a idea but if you do make a more complete game out of this i like the idea of the clock but its also a bit redundant due to the fact you can always check HOW long in the map(feels a bit useless if the map can be used to give exact turn counts)
You guys are inspiring! How did you market it since you guys are indie developers? Your youtube vid got alot of views. I feel like if I made a youtube vid trailer it wouldn't be seen by anyone
i didnt really strugle with the wheel it was pretty clever what my biggest enemy was the jester if you enter the room and attack you would proceed to get stuck softlock and then GG cant even rely on big hands to get out of this jam(meaning you dont want to attack too fast you softlock but not too slow that he gets away)
I quite enjoyed the game, took me around 30 minutes to beat. I don't think you should remove or simplify the puzzle aspect, it seemed somewhat straight forward.
I use an ultrawide screen but don't find a way to change the resolution and text and other info get cut. I fall in love with the trailer and really want to give it a try!
hey, just a heads up, tried out your game but got softlocked when i picked up the first sword. I think it might be because i had the empty potion out. Anyway all the controls stopped, it was asking me to press arrow keys to swing the sword but key inputs did nothing. i had to alt-f4 out of the game.
Looks nice, but makes my GPU (RTX 4080) run like crazy.. I had to quit. Never heard the fans going that fast, and GPU usage where like 95% .. I am runing GTA 6 ?
The atmosphere and art style are so cool and well done, the exploration mechanic and the parry system were really nice and fun to engage with. I never really had a use for the shop nor the pocket watch, the latter of which felt a bit redundant since I Always opened the map to check the remaining time. Overall though it was very immersive and fun, well done!
I encountered some minor bugs that affected my first experience:
1) During my first playtrhough I returned to the first enemy and got locked in combat without being able to attack and die, I had to force quit the game and restart.
2) When I respawned in the safe room during one of my playthroughs the dialogue box to choose to sleep would not disappear from the bottom of the screen until i respawned.
So here is the full video I made of this game in which I did not in fact finish the game cause I fully broke it instead. Still, despite my bad luck with bugs, this game was great. I already love dungeon crawlers but add in puzzles and a very unique visual style and you’ve got a great game in your hands. Really just need to work around those bugs though or add in the option to save and load. Great job overall, not sure if I’ll make another video on it but I might try to play it until the end just on my own time.
Made an account just to leave a comment here. This is awesome game, really! I had so much fun playing it tonight.
The atmosphere, the gameplay, the artstyle... everything is just right! I'm not a big gamedesign master so that's all I can say, but I really just wanted to say thx for the experience. Too bad the game is so short.
I did a review on Greed & Darkness, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and brooding tension. Ya'll even had me thinking I was losing my mind a couple of times!!! Well done!!!
Hey I have a bug feedback, once I opened the bed sleep menu and it remained open even in other rooms, you may make sure to close the menu on room exits or entrances, and map is too complicated and shining effect on map is too slow and makes hard to see marks, maybe you can make them visible in 2t amount seconds and invisible one t second
The game itself is pretty fun and interesting, however I do have some issues with it. Most of the issues boil down to bugs though, so I'll leave a list of ones I've encountered:
-Sometimes, after interacting with the swordstone, the text that pops up ("it looks like it reacts to my sword", or something like that) will be stuck at the bottom of the screen until you read a note or another text pops up
-The first time I played, I had my pocket watch out and grabbed the sword out of the wall, I was then unable to do anything anymore, not walk, not swing my sword, I had to restart the game completely
-Several times during combat with executioners, the game just froze. Not the animations mind you, just everything else. Couldn't move, couldn't open any menus, couldn't attack, and neither did the executioner. I feel like it might be due to spamming attacks, because it only ever happened after I spammed attacks, but it didn't happen *every* time I spammed, and never when I spammed them on the jester, so I'm not entirely sure if that is indeed the cause
-When I died with my sword in the stone, I spawned without it in my hand. I could get it back by interacting with the stone, which made the sword appear within it, and then pulling it out again, I found no other way to get it back.
-Sometimes, for no apparent reason, I could not sleep in the bed. I was interacting with it yet got no pop-up. This happened both while I still had time left, as well as when the time was running out and the Master was chasing me.
-If the Master chased me and I did sleep, the screen sometimes shook for a few seconds after waking up again.
-Besides the game freezing, the worst and most annoying bug happened in the switch puzzle area. I don't know exactly what causes it - whether it's a certain configuration of door rotations or if it just randomly happens after engaging with the switches sometimes - but this bug "let's" or rather forces me to walk through walls. Some doors I can walk through, others I cannot, but instead I can walk through walls. Technically you can still continue the game with it, and even glitch through the wall to find the "hidden" key, but more often than not it led to me being grabbed by the hand. After waking up, the wall glitch was gone.
Now here are some issues I have with the game, that may or may not be bugs, but feel like deliberate choices in most cases, so make of it what you will:
-I'm almost certain this one is a bug: other than putting the sword in the stone, I found no way of sheathing it. And since you need your hand to be free to be able to drink potions, if I wanted to drink a potion, I had to put the sword in, drink it, and get the sword out again. Which works for the invisibility and health potions, although it is annoying, but renders the strength potion virtually useless, as the only two executioners (and the one jester) you could actually fight while the potion is active are on the complete opposite end of the map, and you would lose most if not all of its effect by the time you got to them
-Speaking of the strength potion though, it feels useless even if you could drink it whenever you wanted. I could see it being helpful for players with extremely slow reflexes, but the enemies are so weak that you don't need this potion at all in my opinion, since every fight only takes about 5 seconds and there are only a handful in the game. Maybe if you expand upon the game though, it might become more useful.
-Again, not sure if this one is a bug, but if you have your torch out while invisible, it negates the invisibility.
-Since you can't take your sword behind the sword stone door with you, that entire section becomes a sneak challenge essentially. Which is fine, except that the jester sees you even when your torch is off, so if you happen to run out of the invisibility effect (which I think is quite likely given that the area is a maze), you're pretty much guaranteed to alert the Master if the jester happens to be on the way back out.
-This one might be just a me problem, but it took me a very long time to realise that the rotating doors had more than two settings. Since they are operated by levers, which typically are on/off, I figured the doors would only have two configurations as well. Realising that you could keep spinning the doors and that was the solution to get to the hidden key, took me quite a bit of time. Besides the bugs, that is probably what I spent most of my playtime stuck on. Now again, this could just be me having a brainfart, as you can see the lever going up and down, as well as watch the doors rotate, but it wasn't obvious to me that it wasn't just two positions until I noticed that a door didn't open where I expected it to. Perhaps worth making a bit more obvious, unless I really was just being stupid there and nobody else had issues with this.
Now some things that in my opinion could be improved/changed/expanded upon if you continue building on this game:
-The hand chasing you feels a bit boring. It's terrifying the first time it happens, but the more you experience it, the more it ends up just being tedious. I'm not sure if fixing the bugs that caused me to have to play through this game quite a few times would alleviate that, but perhaps there is some way to make it more interesting/scary/difficult as it happens more times.
-I like that at the end, you can essentially keep looting and gamble. I was however expecting there to be an actual boss fight if you woke up the Master, rather than just being another chase to the door/safe room, which I think would have made a better end to the game.
-It also seems to me (although I may be wrong, I only completed the game twice with 12k and 20k respectively), that the amount you bring out with you doesn't actually change anything, so there is no reason to keep looting once you hit 10k. A different ending scene depending on the amount of gold you bring home, or perhaps an achievement if you end up releasing this on steam, would be pretty neat.
-One last point about the ending: I felt the ending scene was a bit anticlimactic. I risk my life to save the towns future and all I get is two short sentences? No actual cutscene (although I don't know if that wouldn't be an insane amount of work to animate), or even description of how exactly the village fares afterwards? Or how I am treated going forward? I was also half expecting to be forced to go back in by the gatekeeper, or perhaps not be allowed to leave by the Master, or something like that. Might also be interesting, but again, just a suggestion.
-The fucking painting. Is there a secret tied to it that I missed? Can you do anything with it? Does it show the jester and his master? If so, why do they look completely different? Did something happen to them? What's up with it??? I would have LOVED to see there's some secret tied to it, or some hidden lore, or something. It definitely feels like it should do something.
-Why is there a dead jester outside the painting room? Killed by a previous villager that was forced in? How many jesters are there? Are they all the same and he can resurrect in a new body? Or are they all different?
These last points are mostly things for future releases of the game, if there are any. Which I absolutely think there should be. I feel that if you keep working on the game, expanding on it, adding lore, making it longer, it could easily be a smash hit. It would be one of my favourite games for sure, I really loved the concept behind it, the sound design, the art style, the "lore" that is basically not even there is extremely interesting to me, and I feel like there could be so many mysteries and secrets and amazing stories hidden within a full fledged release of this game. I definitely think you have a gem here, and you could make something incredible if you do decide to keep working on it.
I know this comment is extremely long, but I hope it helps you at least a bit, because again, I think this game is great and I'd love to see you hit it big. Two last things: 1. I recorded myself playing this (for a friend), if you would be interested to get clips of some of the bugs I'd be happy to send them to you. 2. If you're planning to release this game in multiple languages, I'd gladly translate it into German for you - assuming there's little to no coding knowledge needed to actually translate it, as I have none.
Thank you for this experience! And for free no less! I loved it.
Thank you very much for this feedback! Glad that you had a good time! And thank you for reporting bugs and things to be improved! We will be working to solve these bugs and polish the game even more in the coming weeks and months! If you want to share your footage you can send it to me on discord: @legendz05
Haha the painting is a subtle nod to Masoking, one of the other games that were made by some of our classmates
i just played it im gonna play some more tomorrow but i had two questions is the game controller compatible because i want to try it on my steam deck and also i couldn't exit the game with the esc key idk if thats a bug or not
I really like the game and want to finish it, but everytime I die it gets super bugged.
The map display shows the next day number on top of the number 1.
If I died without my sword in hand I'll spawn without it, but when I go to the touchstone to take it it's not there, it just wasn't nowhere and after 2 touches I re-place it in the touchstone and can then take it back.
My gold amount gets weird every time I die.
Invisibility potion either did nothing or doesn't work with torch, but I wasn't aware of that. After dying with it the light-blue shader is stuck on my screen. Same as dying in any color of lighting other than orange.
That and input is buffered in weird ways where if you spam it you might move forward 3 spaces without being able to interrupt it and walk into a guard.
I did give it several shots because the game is really fun, but it gets frustrating eventually.
Update: I finished it with 6k gold to spare, without using potions or compass after +- 10 deaths.
Another bug I forgot to mention is picking up the sword with your clock in hand will bug out and not let you draw it, since it's stuck in the sword tutorial.
We havent fully decided yet but we may release the game for Mac and/or Linux too, so check back in the coming weeks and months and we will have confirmed if we do!
I got recommended the trailer for this game on YouTube and was immediately enchanted by the art style and harshness of the animations. Absolutely overjoyed to have played it and really hope the developers get the chance to make something bigger of this all. This was the first time in a dungeon crawler like this where I've actually experienced a sense of panic and time pressure. Obviously there are some bugs, but for something bite-sized like this it's no surprise to see some issues. Nothing game breaking, though the rotation of the rooms not updating on the map made it much more difficult (which arguably was not a bad thing and turned out to be more immersive). All-in-all, I will absolutely be recommending this to friends to play!
Super glad that you enjoyed the game! And thank you for the feedback! We will be working out bugs and other improvements in the coming weeks and months!
Glad that you enjoyed the game! & thank you for bringing this potion bug to our attention! It should still possible to move around in the green area and getting the key without it, you just have to be very careful with your movements. Thank you for your feedback!

What an awesome game!! I encountered a bunch of bugs, sure, but what game doesn't have bugs, really?? Beat it and saved the village!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Congratulations to your victory!
But it's unplayable for now :(
sorry to hear that! We are in process of bug fixing right now so many of the major bugs will be fixed

Overall it looks really good. I love the concept, and I'll play more. But yeah, shit happens lmao
Thank you for reporting these bugs! We are in the process of fixing them!
This game is so cool. Really great job ^^
Thank you very much!
How can non-WASD people even tried the game?
Not everyone is right-handed AND on an English keyboard.
Thank you for your comment HedoNNN! We are working on expanding the game, and adding accessibility options such as this is definitely on our radar.

would had loved for this game to be much longer but I love it for what it is. You guys are doing a great job with teaching your students
Glad you enjoyed the game! We may look into expanding it after polishing the current game
This game looks amazing! I would like to get in touch with the game designer to discuss a potential collaboration. My discord user is: antonella0
Thank you! We will reach out to you if we want to collab!
Great game. Just a question, can you save the game? Or I have to play all in one go.
Thank you! As of now there is no way to save so you have to play it in one go but that could be a feature we add in the future!

Thank you so much! I think we just got really lucky that multiple youtubers saw our game early and helped spread the word to their own audiences
which engine do you use for this game?
We built this game using the Unity Engine
BUENARDO 10 DE 10
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you ever plan to do anything more with this game or idea? I would love a game like this that is like 5x longer. I really enjoyed it.
We will be polishing the game these coming months but for now we are not working on making it bigger however that could change!
Does it support joystick operation?
支持摇杆操作吗?
Sadly not, maybe in the future!
This is such an awesome game. The hardest part is to figure out the code on the wheel lol. Great game !!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! We will be improving the wheel puzzle to make it more clear!
i didnt really strugle with the wheel it was pretty clever what my biggest enemy was the jester if you enter the room and attack you would proceed to get stuck softlock and then GG cant even rely on big hands to get out of this jam(meaning you dont want to attack too fast you softlock but not too slow that he gets away)

Great! Keep up the good work guys! :)

i feel like sometimes the controls overshoot way too much
We will be working on polishing the controls in the coming updates
Can this game be played on an ultrawide monitor (3440x1440)? The top and bottom parts of the UI are cropped out.
Sadly it isn't made for that aspect ratio but we will be updating the game to support different aspect ratios

Thank you for watching! It's always an honor when one of the creators watches, I'm so glad you like it! Keep making great games!
Awesome game! The setting, the art, the combat... Everything is amazing! Congratulations! I hope you release it with more features in the future.
Thank you for playing! Glad that you enjoyed the game! We will be releasing more updates in the coming weeks and months

Two last things:
Haha the painting is a subtle nod to Masoking, one of the other games that were made by some of our classmates
really enjoyed it! looking forward to an update!
Thank you so much for playing!
FOR FREE???
yooo that's so dope
i just played it im gonna play some more tomorrow but i had two questions is the game controller compatible because i want to try it on my steam deck and also i couldn't exit the game with the esc key idk if thats a bug or not
amazing game thanks so much !!
Thanks for playing! I myself haven't tried it on steam deck but others have and it seems to work fine but we may improve that in the future!
You have to hold esc to quit, we will change that or give an indicator to make it more clear!
Thank you for the feedback and glad that you enjoyed the game!
Thank you for playing our game! And leaving feedback & report of bugs, we will be working to solve these in the coming weeks and months!
Hi,
I saw that your game is not on IGDB data.
Could you please add it there? So, people can find it on sites like Backloggd or any other sites that uses the IGDB data.
That's a good tip, we will definetly do that!
This is really up my alley. Do you have plans to release this on other os or consoles? I don´t own a windows machine anymore...
We havent fully decided yet but we may release the game for Mac and/or Linux too, so check back in the coming weeks and months and we will have confirmed if we do!
That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for considering it. <3
stonks
Might be world record! Well done and thanks for playing!
Thank you! I really like this game.
So... how can i move forward without a sword in green area? Invisible potion don't work(((
By the way, great game! I love it
Glad that you enjoyed the game! & thank you for bringing this potion bug to our attention! It should still possible to move around in the green area and getting the key without it, you just have to be very careful with your movements. Thank you for your feedback!
